My career has followed a serpentine path, and that experience may be what your business needs.
I’m looking for new roles and projects, and especially those that fall under “operations” - I like moving “organized chaos” toward efficiency. I excel in building the structures, processes, and tools you need in order to grow.
As an “interesting idea” develops into a profitable business, that structure doesn’t come about organically - someone needs to design it so that it becomes a well-oiled machine - that’s what I love to do - it’s the creative / analytical combo.
For me, it’s been audio for a while (and will continue to be), but previous lives have been in the art world, an analyst in corporate retail, my own woodworking business for five years, and I picked up an MBA for good measure, too.
I’ve always been chasing after some blend of the analytical and the creative (even in undergrad I majored in both biology and art history), and trying to use my hands as much as staring at a screen.
What I like best is solving a puzzle, either by design or building tools.
Designing sophisticated sound systems for bars, or classes so that anyone can build their audio equipment certainly scratches that puzzle-solving itch, and that’s why I love it.
It’s a matter of seeing the bigger picture and how things can be, and working back from there, developing unique solutions. It’s as much about knowing how to deploy the textbook solutions as well as when to toss that out and go your own way.
